How to Set Up Your Week for Marketing

I've seen this in every type of business - you have marketing goals for your business, but they always seem challenging to accomplish. In fact, most the time they fall to the bottom of the list. Here are a few tips to stay on top of your marketing "to-do list"

1️⃣ REVIEW YOUR CURRENT MARKETING EFFORTS Take a step back and review your marketing efforts. What's working? What's not working? Why? The most important area to review first, is your website. This is the foundational piece of your business and the only thing you can control. Which ever area is most pressing, start there.

2️⃣ BREAK IT DOWN WEEKLY

It's easy to be overwhelmed by all of the things you feel like you have to do when it comes to marketing. There's the website, social media posts, don't forget about email marketing, plus you want to start that new idea you had. Instead, take it one week at a time. At the start of each week, I look at what needs to be accomplished and tackle that first. Then, if I finish with my allotted time to spare, I start the next marketing task.

3️⃣ TRAIN YOUR TEAM

This could be spending 10-20 minutes a week with your team on marketing. The more you start delegating and training, the more freedom you'll have down the road. This is a great time to train up team members that are capable of owning a marketing task, but it's also a great time to brainstorm new ideas from people with fresh thoughts. Schedule this quick pow-wow and incorporate into your routine.

4️⃣ CONNECT AND LEARN FROM OTHERS

Take five minutes each day to connect with other business men and women, some in the same industry as you, and some outside of your industry, to connect on social. The main platform might be LinkedIn, or whichever works for you. Like, share and comments on their posts. Follow influencers and watch their quick video or read their quick blog post to have a take-a-way for the day. Plus, by doing this, you have your brand (and yourself) top of mind while supporting others socially.

5️⃣ RECOGNIZE THE GOOD YOU'VE DONE THIS WEEK

Take time to recognize the good things you have accomplished this week. This is always overlooked because we think, "I could have done more" or "it wasn't enough." The reality is, every little thing you do is something you weren't doing before. I can be the worst at this, so I know how important it is take a moment of gratitude and recognize the good you've accomplished.
